1. BUYER Beware...
Bexar Appraisal District Sales Confirmation Survey

The Bexar Appraisal District (BAD) is mailing out Sales Confirmation Surveys to new property owners in hopes that the owners will disclose the purchase price. They review the Deed records for ownership changes during the year. The language used on the form may cause an unsuspecting owner or even employee to complete the form because it appears that it is the law. The form has the following language:

Our records indicate that you recently purchased the above property, The Texas Property Tax Code for the State of Texas requires the Appraisal District to appraise properly at íts market value as of January 1st of each year. We are in the process of conducting a sales study to assist with our appraisal mandate. Please provide the following information about your recent purchase at your earliest convenience.Thank you for your help.

In the State of Texas, sales price disclosure is completely voluntary.

This is a great tactic by the BAD to raise more ad valorem tax revenue. BUYER beware....
