7. PJ O'TOOLE UPDATE
FROM LAURA O'TOOLE

Good evening all. I pray that this is the LAST hospital update I will deliver!!! P.J. went back to the hospital Friday morning with the neutropenic fever. He does have a little infection that we are hoping will be knocked out with some pretty strong antibiotics. His attitude is beyond wonderful and he is doing great. His counts are SLOWLY beginning to recover so with any luck we will be home by this weekend. His seventh Birthday is July first and the last thing we want is to celebrate his birthday in the hospital. (although my parents did promise that if he was there he could have a pizza party for the entire unit! :) The last round of chemo went well, sometimes I think the recovery is far more difficult than the treatment itself. Pat and I have quite possibly entered the hardest part of all this, the waiting. Treatment is over and we pray every day that he does not relapse. I do believe that God is taking care of my baby, but unfortunately science is not perfect. He has responded to the chemo so well, and right now there is no reason to believe he will not be called CURED in five years. The unknown terrifies me and sometimes I wonder if I will ever sleep well again. Jacob is definitely ready to get life back to normal. Seeing his brother in the hospital is difficult and I pray that he remembers very little of all of this. Please continue to keep our precious boys in your prayers. Pray that P.J. recovers quickly, pray that his little body is now healthy and strong and life will only hold wonderful things for him. Please also pray for Pat and me. November 7, 2012 seems like an eternity............. But on that day the two of us plan to celebrate like no other time in our life!!!!!

I will update again soon. Thank you all for your prayers. As I have said before, the prayers are what will get us through this. Please give your children an extra hug this evening. Life can change so fast, cherish every single minute you have with them. I know I will................................

Love to you all

Laura
