1. 2008-2009 Membership Directory Complete Your Survey ASAP! It's that time of year again! We are in the process of gathering your information for the 2008 - 2009 SABOMA Membership Directory. Regular and Associate members were sent a survey on March 30, 2008. Information collected from the survey will be used to produce the 2008 - 2009 Membership Directory. The deadline for responding to the survey is May 15, 2008. If you did not receive an e-mail copy of the survey, please contact the SABOMA office via e-mail at staff@saboma.org. The directory information includes the following: property manages name, title, company name, telephone number, email address, the building name and physical address. Allied Members will soon be receiving a survey via e-mail along with advertising information for the directory yellow pages. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the survey process or your directory information, please do not hesitate to contact us via email at staff@saboma.org or call our office at (210) 822-4499.
2. SABOMA LUNCHEON INCREASE Monthly Luncheon Fee $25.00 Please note that SABOMA Reservations have increased to $25.00 if you are paying at the door or pre-paying online. If you choose the billing option there is a $5.00 billing fee added to your invoice. Guest rates remain at $35.00 at this time. If you paid for your luncheons with your 2008 dues you will not see an increase this year. This increase was made after Oak Hills Country Club raised its per person rate. Please be reminded that you need to RSVP for each luncheon on the SABOMA website at http://www.saboma.co m/.
3. GREEN IS THE NEW BLACK Green Committee Members Wanted! The SABOMA GREEN Committee is looking for new members. This new committee will work with SABOMA to initiate the acceptance of the "BOMA International 7 Point Challenge" this year. To learn more about the "7 Point Challenge visit http://www.boma.org/AboutBOMA/7pointchallenge/ . The committee will also work to raise our memberships awareness on environmental issues and provide pertinent information on how going green can be "value added" for your property. Our goal is to have representatives from the industrial, medical office, commercial office and retail market which will provide us with a mix from each sector of the San Antonio real estate market. If you are an Allied member that is involved in the Green initiave this is a great opportunity for you to work with local membership. Most of all we are calling on members who want to learn more about going green as it is one of the most important issues in the commercial property management field. If you are interested in joining the Green Committee, please visit the SABOMA website at http://www.saboma.org / and click on the leadership tab and then click on Join a Committee. The first Green Committee meeting will be held at the Catholic Life Building on May 8th at 3:30 in the 9th floor conference room. There will be two meetings in May in an effort to get the committee up and running. The committee will meet again on May, 22 at the Catholic Life Building at 3:30. 4. 2008-2009 TEXAS BOMA LEGAL HANDBOOK Hot off the Presses! The 2008-2009 Texas BOMA Legal Handbook is now available. The Legal Handbook is an up to date compilation of statures and rules affecting the leasing and operation of commercial buildings in Texas. It also includes legal counsel's commentary, suggested forms, legal articles and recommended procedures. Texas BOMA is active in legal and legislative matters affecting the commercial real estate industry in Texas. The cost of the Legal Handbook is $150.00 to SABOMA members. To reserve your copy of the 2008 - 2009 Texas BOMA Legal Handbook today, please visit our website at http://www.saboma.org / and choose the online payment tab. If you are unable to purchase the handbook online, please send an e- mail to staff@saboma.org requesting that the Legal Handbook be sent you. Please include your shipping and billing information in your e-mail request. The Education Committee is diligently working to bring the Legal Handbook seminar to our members. We will keep you updated.
5. SAABE Awards 2007 "Building Engineer of the Year" Congratulations to Kile Riggs of Griffin Partners! The San Antonio Association of Building Engineers (SAABE) awarded its prestigious 2007 Building Engineer of the Year Award to Kyle Riggs, of the Union Square I/II buildings, managed by Griffin Partners. The Building Engineer of the Year (BEOTY) Award exemplifies the pinnacle of professionalism in the building engineer trade. Based on interviews, documentation, and building tours, Kyle demonstrated dedication to his work and an exceptionally high level of professionalism in all facets of his job. He has shown that, with the proper attitude, the highest standards of the industry can be maintained. Senior property manager Eileen Kondoff (Kyle's manager) said, "Kyle is a person of character because he exemplifies desirable qualities of behavior such as honesty, integrity, respect for others, reliability and dependability. He performs as a team member and treats tenants, vendors and co-workers with a courteous and friendly attitude." SAABE Vice President Mike Halvorsen, CBE-M (RL Worth) said, "Kyle has maintained the highest level of professionalism and proven to be an invaluable asset to his employer and to the trade as well. Kyle is a shining example of what all of us in the industry should always strive to be." Kyle joined Griffin Partners in February 2006 and was promoted to Senior Engineer in June 2007 with the completion of Union Square II. SABOMA would like to Congratulate Kyle on this award and all of his outstanding accomplishments in his field.

7. SABOMA JOB BANK Hotter than Monster.com Local property management company seeking commercial Property Manager. Applicants will be required to have excellent written and oral skills as well as organizational abilities. Must be willing to work under senior level manager and respond to tenant needs, assist with tenant finish out, lease renewals, coordinate maintenance work, and oversee vendors. Bilingual preferred. Prior commercial property experience of 3 to 5 years is crucial. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook and accounting software. Must work as a team to meet owner and tenant requests.
