2. BOMA OPEN TITLE SPONSOR POSITION AVAILABLE Contact the SABOMA Office Today The BOMA OPEN Committee is searching for a sponsor for the 2008 BOMA OPEN to be held in October of this year. To be eligible for this fabulous opportunity, please send a letter of commitment on your company letterhead to the BOMA Office. Should there be more than one company that is interested in the sponsorship, all commitments will be placed in a hat at the BOMA Member meeting on Wed the 26th of March and the winner drawn. The second one out of the hat will obtain the commitment for 2009 and so on. 3. EER Survey BOMA Needs Your Numbers by March 20, 2008 A few weeks ago, BOMA International launched the online 2008 Experience Exchange Report (EER) Survey. We want to remind you to submit your building information as soon as possible, if you have not already. Please visit: http://ww w.boma.org/2008EERsurvey to complete your survey. If you would like a blank copy of the survey for your reference, please visit http://www.bom a.org/Research/. The survey deadline is March 20, 2008. The results of this survey are critical to gauge the health of our industry and your participation ensures that the data reflects actual office building income and expense values. In exchange for your participation, we will send you a detailed Expense Performance Comparison which compares your building to similar buildings in your area by location, size, and age. 4. RPA Class - Envirornmental Health & Safety Issues Register Now - Deadline March 14, 2008 We are now accepting registrations for Environmental Health and Safety Issues, a required RPA course. Tomi Sue Beecham is the instructor and the class will meet once a week from 5:30 to 7:30pm on Thursdays at the Catholic Life Building starting on March 27. The last class meeting will be June 18, with the final exam to be given on June 26 . Deadline for registration: March 14, 2008 If you would like to sign up for this course, please contact the SABOMA office via e-mail at staff@saboma.org. The registration fee is $575 and there is an additional one-time enrollment fee of $175 if this is your first course. Members have billing privileges; checks should be made payable to San Antonio BOMA and mailed to SABOMA, 1635 NE Loop 410, Suite 600 San Antonio, TX 78209. SABOMA has a scholarship program for members whose employer will not pay for professional education; just ask if you would like to see an application. Please register **ASAP** so the textbook order can be turned in.
5. Southwest Conference in April! Rooms Are Selling Out! Did I mention there is GOLF! New Orleans is proud to host the Building Owner's and Manager's Association's 2008 Southwest Regional Conference. The conference will be held April 9-13 at the Intercontinental Hotel in New Orleans. Come join us in New Orleans! If you are planning to attend the Southwest Regional Conference you can register at http: //www.bomasouthwestconference.org/ . The SWC committee has a very nice program planned for attendees this year. There will be golf at the famous English Turn course on Thursday also. If you have questions or would like to put together a foursome or sponsorship, you may contact Pat.Grimes@transwestern.net and there will be 9 hrs. TREC credit for Texas attendees. Once you have registered, please e-mail the SABOMA Office and let us know what day you will be arriving at the Conference and if you are planning on attending the TOBY Cerimonies. 6. 3rd Annual Sister City Bowling Tournament The Date Has Changed! - Could Not Compete With The Battle of Flowers Parade The 3rd Annual Sister City Bowling Tournament - Austin vs. San Antonio BOMA has been changed to April 18th. Come support your local city in a bowling competition between Austin and San Antonio BOMA. Challenge your sister city co-workers and friends to a little friendly competions by signing up teams in each city, or just enjoy the festivities by registering as an individual. Either way, the winning city is entitled to a trophy and bragging rights for a whole year!!! Make San Antonio BOMA proud by bringing a great crowd. 7. TDLR Elevator & Escalator Rule Amendments An Opprortunity For You To Comment The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation ("Department") proposes amendments to an existing rule at 16 Texas Administrative Code (TAC), §74.80, regarding the elevators, escalators, and related equipment program application fees for initial and renewal inspector registrations, fees for certificates of compliance, and fees for initial and renewal contractor registrations. The proposed amendments to 16 TAC, Chapter 74, §74.80 was filed with the Texas Register on February 4, 2008, and will be published in the February 15, 2008, issue of the Texas Register. TDLR will accept comments on the proposal until March 17, 2008. TDLR encourages all persons interested in the elevators, escalators, and related equipment program to review the proposed rule revisions, which are on the TDLR website at http://www.license.state.tx.us/elevator/eleprop.htm.
8. SABOMA JOB BANK Hotter than Monster.com Griffin Partners, Inc. seeks a Maintenance Engineer for Northwest Center, a 14 story office building totaling approximately 241,248 square feet. Qualifications include a minimum of 5 years experience in high rise office building maintenance with a concentration on commercial HVAC to include experience with cooling tower, water treatment and large tonnage chiller maintenance. In addition, requires rotation of on call duty after hours. Education requirements are high school diploma or equivalent, and/or SMT/SMA designation preferable. In addition, an Electrical Maintenance Technician license through the City of San Antonio is required.
