TO: all members of SABOMA FROM: Lynn Forester (830) 981-5223
1. Job Watch Valerie Kelley is looking for a property management position. She has over 20 years experience in office/retail/industrial leasing and management, holds the CPM designation and is a licensed Real Estate Broker. She may be reached at 210-865-8344 or by email at vpkelley@swbell.net. Susan Sweet of MSG Management needs a maintenance engineer for their two properties. She can be reached at 210-490-7272.
2. IREM & BOMA to Share Data Office building benchmarking reports will become more comprehensive as the Institute of Real Estate Management and the Building Owners and Managers Association International have instituted measures to allow respondents to report building income and expense data to each organization easily, without submitting separate forms to each group. While both groups have used the same data collection form for some time, respondents who chose to contribute to both reports had to fill out the form twice (once for each organization). Now respondents can submit their data to one organization and authorize their data to be automatically shared with the other organization. IREM’s report, titled Income/Expense Analysis, has been published annually for key property sectors for 51 years. BOMA’s report, known as its Experience Exchange Report (EER), is in its 86th year.
3. What Happens at Trade Show Stays at Trade Show! Booth sales are now open for our upcoming joint trade show with the San Antonio Association of Building Engineers. All allied members are invited to purchase an exhibit space, or support the event through a prize or food sponsorship. Payment is required to confirm your space; please visit our website for all the details. Did I mention that this year's show theme is Viva Las Vegas? Vegas, baby! Exhibitor Info Sponsor Info
4. Right on the Money All Regular Members have been sent a confidential salary survey form by fax. Your participation is vital to ensure accurate results, so please take a few minutes to submit your data. The tabulated results are very handy around review time, and help justify increases for your staff as well. If you would prefer an email copy of the survey, just let me know. It's in static PDF format, so you'll need PDF-editing software on your end to enter the information from your keyboard.
5. On Every Property Manager's Desk I am beginning work on our 2007 Membership Directory, and BOMA-affiliated vendors are invited to purchase an advertisement in the product category of their choice. Information has been faxed to all allied members, and the pricing is the same as last year. What a bargain! Seriously. Have you seen our ad rates??
6. March to the Hyatt Don't forget that our March luncheon will be at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort instead of our usual location. It's near Sea World, and I'll include driving directions in Thursday's News Flash message.
7. Interesting Things About the Number Seven
The deadline is Friday, March 30 1. Simplify the process. The online survey is easy to use and interactive. 2. Save your data. The online survey will let you fill in the information you have, save it, and come back to complete the form at a later date. Don’t worry: you’ll get an email reminder if you forget to submit a complete data form. 3. Save time. Online survey data is preserved, so that next year’s form will already contain fundamental building information. 4. Instant gratification. You’ll receive a confirmation email once your form has been submitted. 5. More accurate data collection. The online survey will increase the likelihood that text fields are not confused with numeric fields. Cleaner information yields a more reliable product. 6. Better benchmarking in 2007. Only the online survey includes additional questions that will be used to produce supplementary research products in 2007. 7. It’s resource efficient and environmentally conscious. Help BOMA conserve resources. You can print a copy of your final submitted form for your records. There are seven articles in today's News Flash. Coincidence? I think not.
