2008 SABOMA Angel Tree Program

"Tis the Season to spread goodwill" ….this best describes the Angel Tree Program. Nothing looks more beautiful than a tree filled with angels, but sadly, the angel represents a child in poverty or a child that may not have a home. For every angel that is adopted by one of our tenants, vendors or friend, a Christmas wish has been made true for a special child. "You are not just giving a gift to a child, you are bringing Christmas alive, giving them hope, faith and love, which is the true meaning of Christmas" according to Community Service co-chair Gloria Contreras.

This year, the Community Service committee collected over 700 gifts for their annual Angel Tree program. They provided 570 gifts to San Antonio Youth Center, 100 gifts to Calioux School and 50 gifts to Child Advocates of San Antonio (CASA).

These entities provide a safe haven for children who have many needs including educational, developmental and emotional needs. Most of all they are in need of a safe place to play & learn and caring adult role models who genuinely care for them. This program is one way for SABOMA to involve the community in bringing JOY & HAPPINESS to children who may otherwise have no celebration at all.

Each child is given an angel to write their wish for a specific gift valued at $50 or less. The angels are then collected and distributed to various SABOMA property managers and buildings that want to participate.

Community Service committee co-chair, Richard Alexander said "this Angel Tree program would not be possible without the overwhelming generosity of the San Antonio BOMA membership and of their tenants".

San Antonio BOMA would thank all of the committee members and the community that gave so freely of their time and money this year to help these children.
