SO YOU THINK IT'S JUST A DAY OUT OF THE OFFICE
Written by: Joi Taylor, RPA BOMA OPEN Committee Co-Chair
From a non-golfer's prospective, I have thought for a long time that playing golf was a great way to skip work without much investment or return. Boy was I wrong! More business is done on the golf course and researchers have concluded it is because you are more relaxed, enabling you to hear and think with greater ease. I wonder if they took into consideration that a few drinks may also be involved?
Golfers use an estimated $800,000,000 worth of golf balls annually and there are probably a few of you already calculating what your portion is. Could it be because you can't find just the right number of dimples for that extra yardage? Yes, you read correctly, dimples mean distance to a golfer and their balls, no wonder they have their own language.
San Antonio BOMA has been speaking golf language for 20 years and the language the committee is speaking - Get Involved! The Open was first held in 1989 at the Sonterra Country Club and since then we have played at the Dominion, Quarry, Canyon Springs, Silverhorn and the Hyatt Hill Country. Over our history we have had anywhere from 130 to 240 golfers and last year expanded to 27 holes to accommodate the players list.
Your contributions have impacted the March of Dimes, Homgreen Children's Shelter, KLRN, Boys & Girls Club, Battered Women's Shelter, Texas Burn Survivors Society and Slam Dunk for Life with over $138,000 in contributions. You make a difference, just ask the people in these organizations.
Mark your calendars for Friday, October 10th as your day out of the office. Join our title sponsor ISS Facilities Services and your SABOMA friends at the Hyatt Hill Country for the 20th Annual San Antonio BOMA Open. You don't want to miss the opportunity to find out who makes a fat shot, double eagle, albatross, drain, lob shot or wormburner. And the game will expose those that dub or are a sandbagger, hacker, or ace. If that isn't interesting enough you also have good odds of walking away with a great prize from our drawing or being the highest bidder in our special auction.
So bail out now (that is golfer's lingo for playing it safe) and register your team and purchase your prize drawing tickets. Sponsorships are still available so be a part of making a difference. Go to www.saboma.org or click on the link above and register now. Come to the Hyatt and play golf with Wyatt!
