The Community Service Committee hosted its annual Back-to-School Party at the San Antonio Children’s Shelter on Saturday, August 11. Thanks to the generosity of our members, this year’s event was a huge success! Our entire committee wishes to express their gratitude for your support of this worthy cause. Several buildings participated in the back-to-school drive and collected various school supplies as well as monetary donations. Once again, the CSC exceeded our goal of one hundred backpacks! We were even able to donate excess supplies to the San Antonio Youth Center.

We want to also thank Richard Karowski of Securitas, Chas Angelini of Century Pest Control and Margo & Phil Law for volunteering to pick up the school supplies and transport the backpacks to the shelter, as well as all of those who helped stuff the backpacks and those who volunteered at the party. The children enjoyed Happy Meals, punch, cupcakes and ice cream. They also enjoyed Sidekick and Jo Jo, Shriners’ clowns who volunteered their time to entertain the children. And, a special appearance by the Spurs Coyote was a real treat, especially when the Coyote handed out the backpacks and autographed pictures!

The joy on the faces of these children when they are given a party and their backpacks are handed to them is indescribable. Thank you again SABOMA for your generosity and support!
