2007 MANAGER OF THE YEAR, EDNA GECKLER, RPA
The Colonel Richard C. Singer Manager of the Year Award is a special award presented to a truly outstanding property management professional.
The 2007 Manager of the year is Edna Geckler, RPA. Edna is a Senior Property Manager with Stream Realty and is currently the property manager for One Castle Hills. Edna has been a property manager for over 20 years.
During the interview with Edna, it became apparent that she has become a specialty manager and enjoys taking on stressed properties and repositioning them. Edna has a passion for these properties and over the last 20 years has been at nine different properties with a total of over 1.5 million square feet. Edna was nominated by one of her peers who said, "Edna is the most compassionate person I have ever known".
As in past years, the selection of the manager of the year was an extremely difficult one. Nominees were judged on several factors, length of time in the job, tenant recommendations, personal appearance, professional demeanor and professional development, RPA, CPM, CCIM etc. The nominees were interviewed personally. Questions regarding their volunteer activities outside of work, and BOMA involvement were part of the interview process. A scoring system was used to help in the decision.
